There will be a very special VIP at the Vale Park Open Day on Sunday July 12th.

It gives all of us in the Sproson Fund incredible pleasure to announce the arrival of the statue of Roy Sproson.

The Open Day will be officially launched at 10.00 am on Sunday July 12th when MP Joan Whalley will cut away the bubble wrap surrounding Roy's face and feet. The remainder will remain covered so as not to disappoint when the official unveiling takes place.

However we feel that even seeing this small amount will hopefully encourage another 45 Vale fans to sign up for the remaining places in the Legends Club and have their, or a loved ones, name permanently inscribed on the statue plinth.

We are now within touching distance of our target after the Professional Footballers Association made a marvelous donation of £3,000 to the fund, so if we can get a full subscription to the Legends Club we are home and dry. We are also appealing for help with moving and storing the statue ahead of the official unveiling. We are looking for a local engineering firm with a hoist and storage space to come forward so that the statue can be moved to it's premises while site preparation work is carried out.
